Installation: how does it work?

You have just received your Expedy printer, or you are wondering before buying whether it is complicated to set up. The short answer is: no. There is no software to install, no network settings to configure, and you do not need anyone’s help. Allow five minutes.

In summary

  1. Plug the printer into a power outlet.
  2. Scan the QR code displayed on the printer’s screen.
  3. Add your sales channels with one click from your Expedy account.

The next order prints automatically. Your account is here: expedy.fr/console/v3. The complete step-by-step guide is in the installation documentation.

What’s in the box

  • The 80 mm thermal printer
  • The power supply
  • An initial paper roll
  • A pre-activated 4G SIM card on 4G models, provided free of charge as an added safeguard
  • A quick installation guide

Step 1 — Connect the printer

Place the printer wherever you prepare orders: in the kitchen, at the counter, or at the assembly station. Open the cover, load the paper roll, and close it. Connect the power supply and turn it on.

If you chose a 4G model, there is nothing else to do: the SIM card is already inserted, and the printer connects automatically. If you prefer to use your router, connect a network cable between the printer and the router. Wi-Fi is also available depending on the model.

After a few seconds, the screen displays Server connected. That means everything is working properly. If in doubt, the indicator lights show you the current status. For full details on connection modes, see the internet connection page and the SIM card settings.

Step 2 — Scan the QR code displayed on the screen

The printer displays a QR code on its small screen. Scan it with your phone’s camera: your Expedy account opens, with your printer already recognized. Nothing to copy and no serial number to enter.

Create your account by entering your email address, then choose your subscription plan. The free plan covers 50 prints per month and does not require a credit card. This is when the subscription is taken out—not when you make the purchase.

You can also open your account directly: expedy.fr/console/v3.

Step 3 — Connect your sales channels

Everything is done from your Expedy account. Depending on what you use:

Delivery platforms: Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Just Eat, Wolt, Glovo…

These platforms use HubRise. In your Expedy account, click Add HubRise, choose your restaurant from the list, and it’s connected. One click, nothing more.

Your platforms must first be linked to your HubRise account. If you don’t have HubRise yet, select the “I don’t have HubRise” option when placing your order: we’ll cover the cost of this subscription. Detailed instructions: connect a printer to HubRise and HubRise overview.

Your online store: Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, GoodBarber

Install the Expedy module from your platform’s app store, then paste the key displayed in your Expedy account. No coding required.

You use Zenorder, OrderLemon, LightKitch, or Love2Food

These partners handle the connection for you and cover the subscription cost. Simply let them know that you have an Expedy printer. The complete list of compatible solutions is available on the integrations page.

You automate with Zapier, Make, or n8n

No development required: connect Expedy Print to your other tools with drag and drop. See integrate Expedy Print with Zapier and the Zapier page.

You are developing your own solution

Retrieve your key from your Expedy dashboard and send your print jobs via the REST API: create a print job, list your printers, or browse the complete API reference.

To operate existing USB printers via the adapter or a Raspberry Pi: installation on Raspberry Pi, connecting an ESC/POS printer, and scanning USB ports.

Check that everything is working

From your Expedy dashboard, start a test print. A receipt comes out: everything is working. Then place a real order from your website or platform to validate the complete process.

With each new order, the printer emits a sound and a flash of light. Both can be adjusted from the printer's menu or via the beep setting if you prefer silence.

Customize your receipts

Once the printer is up and running, you can enhance its presentation:

Routine maintenance

Good to know

  • No computer or tablet needs to stay on. The printer works on its own, including at night.
  • Multiple platforms on a single printer, at no extra cost. Add as many as you like.
  • Multiple printers are possible too: one in the hot kitchen, one in the cold kitchen, and one at the counter. Each printer has its own subscription.
  • If your internet box goes down, 4G models continue printing. Pending orders print as soon as the connection is restored.
  • The paper is standard: 80 mm thermal rolls, available everywhere.

A 100% self-service installation

We never intervene on your behalf and have no access to your HubRise account, your store, or your point-of-sale system. You remain in control of your access from start to finish. That's also what makes setup so quick.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need technical skills?
No. If you know how to scan a QR code and click a button, you know how to install the printer.

How long does it take?
Five minutes on average, including unpacking.

Where is the QR code?
The printer displays it directly on its screen. You don't need to look for anything in the box.

Where is my Expedy account?
At expedy.fr/console/v3. This is where you activate the printer, choose your plan, connect your channels, and track your prints.

Do I need to keep the delivery platform's tablet?
Yes, to accept orders and manage statuses. The printer only handles printing on paper in the kitchen.

What if I switch platforms later?
You add the new channel from your Expedy account. The printer stays where it is.

When will I be charged for the subscription?
Never at the time of printer purchase. The subscription starts when you activate the printer, and the free plan remains available indefinitely. See the Cloud Print API pricing.
