Print from Pipedream, without a local workstation
Pipedream lets you write code between your applications. The only thing missing was a printer. This thermal printer can be controlled with a few lines from any workflow, without a local workstation or driver.
How it works
Add a Node.js or Python step, or simply the HTTP Request action, using POST to the Expedy API with your key. The JSON body contains the text to print.
Plug in the printer, scan the QR code displayed on its screen, and it will be linked to your Expedy account. No driver and no workstation needs to be left on. View the installation details — API reference.
The printer
80 mm thermal printer, automatic cutter, included 4G SIM card and Ethernet port, setup screen, cash-drawer output, and metal casing. Formatted text, QR codes, EAN13 barcodes, images, and PDFs. View the full technical specifications.
Pricing
- Printer: €229 excluding VAT, one-time payment
- Free trial: 50 requests per month, no credit card required
- Beyond that: Cloud Print API subscription, one subscription per printer
The subscription is not charged with this order. Subscribe after receiving the printer by scanning the QR code displayed on the screen. View Cloud Print API pricing.
Frequently asked questions
Can I generate the ticket in code?
Yes. That is the benefit of Pipedream: you compose the ticket in JavaScript or Python, with your formatting tags, before sending it.
Does the response confirm that the ticket was printed?
A 200 status code with a request_uid confirms receipt by the API, not that the paper was printed. Plan for deduplication in your workflow.
Does the printer need to remain on my network?
No. It connects to the Expedy cloud via 4G or Ethernet and continues working even if your internet router goes down.
